Video surveillance systems help to remotely monitor large areas or many areas at the same time.
They say that it’s better to see something once than to hear about it a thousand times – this is confirmed by the advantages of video surveillance systems over security alarms, which identify a threat in a specific space, but, unfortunately, do not reveal the real cause of the event. Only a professional video surveillance system can identify it.
There are different types of cameras depending on the goals, so the choice strongly depends on what you are planning on monitoring and what result you want to achieve. If you just want to see if someone is present, then simple black and white cameras will do.
360-degree cameras are best suited for offices and shops, while cameras with high optical zoom and high resolution are required for monitoring cities. If you need a camera that can read car number plates and connect them to an entry system, then you need one type of camera, but you need a completely different type if your goal is to count people.
It is important to remember that cameras have many functions – it all depends on your needs and your budget.
