Video projection systems
Video projection systems consist of projectors and projection screens. These systems are perfect when you are looking for a mobile, cost-effective solution that provides a large image.
When it comes to choosing a projector, it is especially important to evaluate its resolution, the type of light source and the brightness of the projector. The latter is one of the most important parameters, since it determines how bright the image will be displayed on the projector.
It is also important to pay attention to the lighting of the room where the projector will be installed, as well as the type of light source the projector uses. There are three types of light sources – lamps, lasers and LED.
Lamp sources don’t last as long as laser or LED, so they are mostly used in lower power projectors. They usually have 10,000–15,000 hours of lamp life.
One of the most popular solutions is laser sources, which have up to 20,000 hours of lamp life.
However, LED or hybrid LED and laser projection is becoming popular as an alternative to lamp sources. Compared to lamp and laser light sources, this option is the most long-lasting, offering up to 30,000 hours of lamp life.
Another important aspect of a projector is its resolution. The higher the resolution, the more detailed the image will be displayed on the projector screen. For example, WXGA resolution is usually enough for a smaller projection, but we recommend going with WUXGA for larger ones.
The display technology is also important, as this impacts how the visuals are perceived. There are currently three types being used: 3LCD, 1DLP are 3DLP. Although 3LCD technology is the cheapest, DLP technology produces more vibrant colours and greater colour contrast.
The projection contrast and image quality are also influenced by the screen gain. To improve projection contrast, gain of less than 1, such as 0.8, is recommended. If the projector is large and not bright enough, then we recommend going with a higher gain, such as 1.8.
Projection screens are selected depending on the situation and what they are needed for. There are portable framed screens, motorised retractable screens and fixed wall-mounted screens. The material of these screens can be for front projection, when the projector is installed in front of the screen, or for rear projection, when the projector is installed behind the screen. In certain cases, the projective material can be for both front and rear projection.
