Lithuania is one of the leading countries in the world in terms of the availability of the fibre-optic internet, which allows a fast internet connection with the world. However, it is also very important to have a fairly good and reliable infrastructure in order to take advantage of the potentiality of the fibre-optic internet. We often find that the local networks of companies, plants or agencies with access to the fibre-optic internet is of a very poor quality and does not meet modern requirements. Often the speed on the local network is much lower than the possible speed with the outside world. Quite a number of reasons for this could be listed here. A high-speed network is becoming as vital to modern businesses, industries, and other agencies as electricity or the Internet, and, where it malfunctions, the losses may reach impressive amounts.
